Based on employee interest and potential impact, we established IMT’s main charitable focus areas: human services, youth development, and health. We engage with groups and qualified charitable organizations that align with our guidelines and allow for charitable giving, volunteerism, and corporate citizenship. By identifying charitable initiatives that expand our impact across all six states in which we do business, IMT can ensure our contributions, leadership, and volunteers are fully aligned with community engagement vision.
Each year, IMT’s workforce spends nearly 1,000 hours volunteering with various causes and charities that matter most to them. Employees are given eight hours of Volunteer Time Off each calendar year which they may use at non-profits, programs or community events they are passionate about. Whether volunteering at their child’s school holiday party, walking dogs for a local animal shelter, or picking up trash along their favorite bike trail, IMT employees are generous community supporters. Additionally, IMT offers several corporate-sponsored volunteer opportunities like handing out water at the IMT Des Moines Marathon finish line, hosting the IMT booth at the Iowa State Fair, and competing in paddleboat races for a local non-profit fundraiser.
Each year, IMT organizes a full week of volunteer activities for our employees. Planting trees, building beds for children in need, assembling cancer care packs, and sorting donations at local food banks are among a broad range of tasks completed by IMT employee volunteers across the Midwest.
As a company, IMT takes pride in giving back in purposeful, meaningful ways. The organizations selected as volunteer locations directly impact the communities in which our employees live and IMT does business. That’s because we care about our employees, independent insurance agents, and customers, and want to give back whenever possible.
IMT sponsors a variety of events, organizations and specific projects to show support for the communities in which our employees, policyholders and agents work and live. Among the many collaborations IMT is proud to support, we are honored to be a part of local sporting events, festivals, community betterment projects, and more. Additionally, IMT takes pride in supporting worthwhile causes, particularly those making meaningful impacts in our six-state writing territory, such as. charitable galas and non-profit programs and initiatives.

For many years, IMT has gifted donations to community projects and organizations in need of funding. Agents submit entries for consideration, and an IMT selection committee presents awards ranging from $500 – $1,000. Recipients include tree planting projects, first responder equipment, backpack food programs and more. Contact your local IMT Agent for details on how to submit an entry for consideration.
IMT is committed to supporting youth development, education and career improvement. Our annual Richard C. Keith Scholarship program aims to assist our agents’ and employees’ family members who desire to further their education. Named after IMT’s former President & CEO Richard C. Keith, the scholarship program awards scholarships to qualifying students whose family member works in one of our partner agencies/mutuals or whose family member is employed by IMT Insurance.
IMT employees are generous with both their time and dollars. To show appreciation for their community contributions, IMT may donate a set amount to the programs or non-profits our employees support. Donation amounts will vary based on an employee’s participation level with qualifying programs or non-profits.
IMT is proud to participate annually in Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of a unique blend of partners – charities, families, businesses, and individuals – to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Giving Tuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Each year, IMT pledges one donation, to a local non-profit or program, every hour from 9 AM – 4 PM that day.
